Today I felt creative with the camera. I recently purchased a device that would allow me to (finally) download the video we take on the camera, and I think it motivated me to snap off a few more. Here, Liesel and Dominic read a story before bed. Dominic turns the pages all by himself, and can feel the textured "bear" fur in the book.
While I was making dinner, I looked over and saw the rose Liesel recieved at my unit's formal dinner last night, sitting all alone on the table in this vase. I don't know what it was, but I immediately thought it made a nice picture. So I got some traditional accessories (tablecloth, fruit, kitchen-ware) and set to work imitating my favorite Impressionist, Paul Cezanne. Here is a close up.
I also tried working with the color filter in my photo editing software. Although highliting a red rose in the middle of a black and white background is a pretty obvious step to take, I'm still pretty happy with the result.
I really hope Megan is reading this post, because she took numerous photograpy courses in high school and college, and I'm sure will be able to critique my amatuerish efforts.
Finally, some news about Spain. Today I bought a wine I'd never had before: Campo Viejo, in part because it was on sale, and also to celebrate Alberto Contador leading the Tour de France as the wearer of the yellow jersey. We'll be looking forward to the final stage tomorrow in Paris. If he wins, Contador will be the youngest winner in 10 years, since Jan Ullrich won in 1997. Go Team Discovery!

Nana says: Thanks for the pictures of Opa and the comments. And the pictures of the rose are beautiful/1
I like finding Eric's reflection in the vase. Kind of M.C. Escher-esque.
