Adventures with Dominic

Its been a long while since the last blog (12 whole days!) and I don't have any peculiar links this time. Since our last episode, Dominic has expressed his dislike of farm animals. The mucche just wasn't what he wanted to see that day.

Later, we came home. Dominic likes calcio much more than the farm.
Also this month Nana and Li'l Opa came to visit. Nana cut (or rather, tried to cut) Dominic's hair. I had to help.
After he stopped crying, he clapped and sang a song with Li'l Opa.

Finally, we come to today.

Alright! Way to go Dominic!

A hot day in August

Its always my great temptation to blog first about stuff that interests me, and then blog about Dominic; this way, you readers will HAVE to look at my stuff first before you realize its not about Dom and just skip ahead. So, I will give into temptation and show some things that I've been into lately.

For those of you who may have missed NPR Weekend Edition today, I think you should listen to this. I think its great when NPR does cool rah-rah Air Force pieces, letting us listen to the sound of freedom, and encourages young kids to grow up to be fighter pilots. Too bad they'll all be out of a job one day...

Also featured on NPR this morning, this little gem (Rated-PG):

Who knew He-Man would be so popular again? Even Liesel thought this was funny! There are, like, 10 episodes of this!

And now, what you've all been waiting for:
Last week we drove to Chicago to help Mitzi move into her new apartment. Mitzi lives near a cool coffee shop, Cafe Ballou, so Robert I and found time to show our patronage by sampling their espresso. Also, we all ate breakfast there on Sunday. It was a fun trip had by all, especially when sangria and margaritas were involved. And do you know what the closest church is? That's right, St. Helen! Just like our parish! So that was fun.

Later in the week we went to see the Cincinnati Reds play at Great American Ballpark. For a 7 PM game, it was 97 F at first pitch - the hottest game on record! We drank lots of water (I drank beer) and let Dominic sit in his own seat:

We played Moundball (the mound was hot! Liesel won 5 times!) and enjoyed a Reds victory over the Dodgers.

Today is less hot than it has been all week, so I get to clean the house, change oil in the car, maybe wash the car, and we may even make it out to Carriage Hill Farm to show Dom some barnyard animals. Who knows?! The Days are just Packed!

Oh, and I just posted my reading list over on the side bar --> Let me know if you have any suggestions, just leave them in the comments.

And as always, you can find our pictures in the online album.
