So, sorry about the long wait between posts. We've upset some of our devoted fan following by being as delinquent as we have been.
We started off the month watching Obama win the Electoral vote. I was kind of bummed; I had been looking forward to staying up late watching the returns come in, but that was not to be. It's over so quickly when the call the entire West Coast at once!!
Next, we took a trip to visit Liesel's relations in St. Louis.
Thanks Rocky, Jane, Hannah & Abigail for a great weekend!!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Aaron and Ann from Abilene came to visit us. In addition to learning all about farm equipment and what they do with it in Abilene, we played with blocks downstairs.
... and helped Dad make the batter for hot buttered rum (thanks Dustin & Erin, out there in cyberspace somewhere! Dustin, you'll get a shout out at work too)
Well, nuts, it sure is. That means I've sorely neglected updating the blog with important events in our life - such as Dominic's 2nd birthday, Will's surgery, Eric's hunting trip... so lets get on with it!
Oh wait, I first want to direct anyone looking for good election coverage -- from a Catholic perspective, that is -- to check out American Papist and Inside Catholic.
I've heard this article referenced enough times recently to link to it. There's still hope! The Republican kind!
I don't like this article, because it's misleading: Texas Tech played Kansas like a "video game, " not OU. (But clearing that up doesn't make me feel better either. C'mon Alamo Bowl!!).
Ok, when we last met, we showed video of Dominic's birthday, but no pictures. Presently:
Last weekend, Eric went into the wilderness Northern Nebraska with the Great White Road Hunters Buschelman clan for the annual fall hunt. Here we see the merry band returning from the kill.
Now, Grandma Buschelman was here all week to help out while Will has having his operation done. For those who don't know what operation that was -- call, we'll tell you. Anyway, while we are taking care of Will at the hospital, Grandma and eldest grandson Dom are up to hijinks:
Will just chillin' in his new hospital bed. He did great! Thanks to all of our friends who kept us in their prayers.
After we came home, Dom and his pal Owen try out the new trains Dom got for his birthday. What's the best way to do that? Put them on the windowsill, of course.
***Eric's Rant*** What is up with Facebook's overwhelming slew of advertisements?? Why is Obama's face on so many of them?? Why are most of these advertisements so annoying? Ok, that's it.
When was the last post? For the VP debate? I hardly even remember that. I think I enjoyed watching Biden and Barracuda Sarahcuda more than Obama/McCain.
(What was going to be here was a video uploaded through the Google/Blogger video widget, but for the life of me I haven't been able to upload a single video using it. YouTube it is!!)
Why this photo (follow the link)? Because, when I was at school, I never saw the stadium this full. Oh to be back in the Sunflower State these days...
I've been riding my bike to work (semi-regularly) for a few months now. I often get into discussions about the safety/legality of certain practices, such as riding on the sidewalk (don't do it) or passing stopped traffic on the right (I guess I should stop). A good summary of the applicable laws in Ohio here will inform the curious.
Ok, now for videos:
At our Oktoberfest, Liesel made cupcakes to celebrate. Here we all sing to Dominic. He knew he was the center of attention, too.
G+G Buschelman send Thomas engines. Dominic rejoices!
Question: did Chad Johnson really change his name to Chad Ocho Cinco? B/c the commentators are still calling him Chad Johnson. Hmm... who cares!!
(Sam Elliott is the voice of the Coors Banquet Beer commercial. That is so awesome.)
Gosh, what have we been doing? Well, last weekend Eric ran the USAF Half-Marathon. I got a PR time, 1:36 -- so it was a good day! And I got a t-shirt. You can follow the times here, and see the pictures here (my # is 3288). We had a lot of people from the office run this race, and one guy met us at the finish line w/ some cold ones -- thanks Don!!
Poor Dominic -- after sitting on my shoulders his pants were all wet becuase I was so sweaty. He really didn't enjoy that.
A few days later, we had our Oktoberfest at work. Dominic (or "Sepp") decided he wouldn't be an authentic Buschelmaenner without drinking from his stein and wearing lederhosen.
The Oktoberfest Ubermensch competition -- or beer-stein holding endurance contest. We had our steins filled w/ water. I am in the final 10 or so by this point (we started w/ over 40)... and that mug got reallly heavy reallly fast. I regret to say I did not prevail much longer after this picture was taken.
See the previous post about the "thinking" game. We had to take "senator" off the all-star category, b/c it just got too crazy: "Senator McCain, Senator Obama has said that you are old. Senator, how do you respond to the senator's comments?" And so on.
This is Dominic at the vintage aircraft fly-in at the base. Oh how he wanted to cross the line!!! We were here for hours.
Dominic's new fashion sense: boots!!
Mitzi is here this weekend, and did our family photo shoot. Lots more in the online album!!
I've finally posted more pictures in our library, and have uploaded a video to the YouTube channel. We have been taking a lot of video lately, and since those take the longest to upload, well... you get the drift.
Check back later for more updates!!
New Video: We go to Young's Dairy with R, KT, M-A & Rose.
After feedback from some of our readers, I realize now that everybody is not as excited by women's beach volleyball as I am. So my live blogging during that didn't really impress anybody.
To make up for this, I will now post home movies.
Dominic works the microwave (slam!)
Dom: Super-sluethy cookie hunter.
We vist (leave?) the horses at Carriage Hill farm.
Dominic takes care of our herb "garden."
In which Will takes a nap and Dominic catches up on the Jayhawks' NCAA championship.
OK, so I'm totally "live" blogging to this gold medal match of with Misty May and Kerri Walsh. It is awesome!!! Kerri just totally slammed a kill on the Chinese after a sloppy pass.
Go USA!!!!
(on second thought, I won't put a picture of these two. Just google them).
I have been behind on updating the photos - they've just been sitting on the camera for a few weeks.
I was feeling artsy again during the sunset... so this is from our back patio.
Another shot of those great flowers! Thanks mom and dad!!
Will takes a peek over his blanket.
Dominic, ready to go to a pool party down the street.
Mom and her son relax on the couch.
Dominic learns to play croquet (this was at a going-away party for a friend of mine who is deploying to Iraq for a year). Note: Dominic did not hit anyone else with his mallet... unlike some of the other kids there.
Will's outfit at Mass this morning (Calvin Klein!)
