Will comes home

After setting a new record for comments on the blog, I feel obliged to provide our readers with more insight into our new family life (or just skip to the all the pictures I've taken here).

First, I don't think anyone in the family is confused, but our boy's name is definitely *WILL* and not *BILL*, as in, "Mr. Bill."

Will's namesakes are William Keel (Liesel's dad) and Opa Keel (her grandfather) -- and, we found out later, my great-uncle William Fennessy. There was also a Wilhelm Buschelmann way way back in the day, but we won't go there.

Thomas is for St. Thomas More, my confirmation saint. And yes, also for Robert, Jeff, Uncle Tom, and everybody else named Thomas. But really Thomas More.

I should start by offering proof that Dominic likes dogs. Nana arrived last week and brought Tuxedo Junction II (Tux) along, and she (the dog) and Dom are fast friends. Here we see them playing in the backyard sprinkler.

Liesel went to the hospital at 3 AM on Thursday, and William was born at 9:13 AM - a very fast labor!! Too fast for drugs!! Liesel was disappointed (at the time), but happy later because everything "turned" out for the best. Call us for the gory details, and for all those yet-to-be dads out there, be warned: your wife will hate you, but only for a short while.

We brought along some of Dominic's old clothes. Apparently, this blue hat has shrunk in the wash.
(This is Dominic in the hat - Oct 2006). Do all siblings look alike? We think the boys do, but Dominic had more hair.

Later in the day, Dominic & Nana came to visit us in the hospital (as did Laura, Kathy, Majelle, Kelly (& in-utero Madison), JR, & Bronwyn -- thanks guys!!!). Dom wanted to look at "Baby!" as soon as we got there, and was curious about him. He tickled Will as soon as he could - to no effect.

Here's the whole family! Poor Liesel, outnumbered by all these boys. But doesn't she look great having gone through labor just a few hours ago??

We ordered pizza for dinner (hospital food is no subsitute) and watched Le Tour de France on Versus. Another perk of being in the hospital: cable TV!!

A proud dad. Notice the Jayhawk shirt. We wanted to make Will feel welcome when he arrived, you know?

Liesel is happy to have a healthy son.

Dominic of course still loves to read stories.

My parents sent us roses: "Can't wait to meet him!"

Our boy Will! His Baptism will be Aug 31st, at St. Helen Church in Riverside, OH. Stephen & Megan Brister are Godparents. Hope to see a lot of you here!
