Latest Happenings (other than playing Mass)

So, I know that a lot of you may skip this post as there are no pictures attached, but a couple new habits have popped up in our lives that I wanted to share.

First:
Dom, the last couple of nights has requested an extra book to read at bedtime.  Specifically, Curious George counts to 100.  He also requests this book first thing in the morning and right before his nap (along with three other current favorites: 10 Apples Up on Top, Go Dog Go, and Mickey Mouse:  The Night Before Christmas.  What?).  However, due to the brevity of the aforementioned book, Eric often opts to skip this particular volume.  Dom has found a way to circumvent this by waiting about 10 minutes after lights out and then throwing the book down the stairs and following it down.  I know we shouldn't encourage this behavior, but his determination is pretty impressive.

Second:
My mom gave Dom a star that projects a picture on the ceiling to distract a crying baby and lull them to sleep with soft music.  This is a little miracle of an invention that we started to use with Will a couple of weeks ago.  Dom has discovered how to turn it on and he also has discovered that the picture does not always appear.  So he will walk around the upstairs with it saying "Where'd it go" and when he finds a darkened wall he goes: "there it is."  His favorite place to go is the closet where it is almost always dark.
As a side note, one of the first nights we used this particular light, we had put the boys down without incident and Eric and I were cleaning up dinner dishes (ok, ok, it was just Eric cleaning, I was supervising) when we hear " Momma!" from the top of the stairs.  By the time we got up to the room, Dom had gotten back in bed, but with big concerned eyes he pointed to the ceiling where the picture had been and said "Broke!".  The star had turned itself off and it took a little bit of explanation to let Dom know that everything was ok and that the star would be back the next night.

Third:
We have a baller.  It doesn't matter what ball.  Football, soccer, basketball, or baseball.  He'll do all of them.  Unfortunately, he recently slam dunked too hard and broke the net in his room, but we should have it back up by tomorrow.  We've worked on dribbling, throwing, catching/receiving,  kicking and pitching.  Oh, and shooting.  We cheer him on, but he really doesn't need the extra cheerleaders as he already tells himself:  "Good job, bud!  Awesome!"

Fourth:
He loves the Jayhawks and chants the Rock Chalk Chant and sings the fight song without prompting.  We just have to work on what uniforms we are wearing.  The other day I caught him cheering for the Memphis Tigers while watching the DVD of the National Championship and today I had to explain that it was okay to cheer when the Wildcats missed a free throw and to cheer when the Jayhawks made one.   He had it backwards.

Last:
Dom and Will are really becoming brothers and I look forward to when Will is totally mobile and they can really play together.  I know, I will probably rue the day I said that when they decide to go separate ways in a big park.  But, for now it is a fun to watch them interact and hear them laughing in the backseat of the car.  Sorry that this was so Dom heavy of a post.   Will is doing great.   Sitting totally on his own.  Rolling all over.  Gnawing on anything he can get his hands on including Dom's shoes.   He does a pretty good impression of the screech of the Nazgul, but not on cue, so don't ask him.  Sleeping and Eating solids are works in progress, but I won't complain here.   That's what phone calls are for.

Rooting for Memphis? What kind of parents are you, letting this behavior ever happen? Well, at least it wasn't KSU or MU...

Hopefully the kid can play for the Jayhawks. Most hopefully basketball, but any sport would do. Getting a scholarship would be even better. If not for sports, maybe as a cheerleader? Do they even get scholarships?

Way to go Robert, first post!

Reading what you write about your boys is as enjoyable as looking at the pictures you both take.

Glad to here that the Star "Bagoo" is still an attention getter! ANd yes it is wonderful to see your kids playing and getting along well with each other --- when they are little and when they themselves are parents!
Love,
Nana
p.s. There is talk of giving kids of KU alums in-state tuition. Maybe Dom will come to Lawrence!!

You will be sorry you said that! My day consists of "Get off him" "Give that back to him" "This is not the time or place for wrestling." What one doesn't think of, the other one does! Oh, and the snuggie is awesome. It is even long enough to fit Adam. There is many a night that I am "paralyzed" by it and nothing gets done. But I can read and eat and my arms stay nice an warm and there is no draft! Hope all is well, miss you guys!!

So at the risk of people thinking that are children are a touch racist, we thought it was pretty funny when Mary Ann informed Mitzi's friends that her favorite basketball teams are the "Coloreds" and the "Whites". True story.
