It's Raining! It's Pouring!

Back in early December, we got hit with a couple days of downpours.  It completely flooded our backyard and water seeped into our vents.  However, those with small kids know that you can only watch so much tv and find so many things to do "quietly" around the house.

First, William declared he was willing to venture outside.  I'm sure the fact that he just received a pair of galoshes helped him in this decision.

Upon watching Will from the door, Dom decided he didn't want to miss out on all of the fun.

They had such a great time running around and splashing, I think they stayed out for almost a half an hour.

I learned a few things by letting them do this.  First, though the galoshes are waterproof, massive splashing (as boys are want to do) will provide ample opportunity for water to get into the boot. Don't worry if you forget this as tipping over the boot will soon remind you.  Second, I should have new outfits ready.  Small sections of the shirts were dry, but absolutely nothing else was.  Maybe putting them in snow suits would help with this?  Thinking back, I should probably have a change of clothes for me, too.  Third, have the entire entry area lined with towels.  It probably wouldn't hurt to have a couple on the couch as well.  As much as they try to stay in one place, this is physically impossible.   But, all in all, it was totally worth it just to see their excited faces!

wow...that's a lot of rain and a lot of lessons learned! I'm sorry it got into your vents though, that's not as much fun as seeing your boys laugh!
