Being slightly speech delayed and having certain letters that she doesn't pronounce, Molly is hard to understand. That doesn't keep her from talking, however. And if you pay attention, you get a regular commentary on what she observes. Most recently, she has been paying attention to the different names people are called. For example, in Kansas, she observed that though she calls my dad: "L'Opa", I would call him "Dad". And then she would continue to explain this observation with: "But, he is not my dad"
Since coming home, she has noticed that Eric calls me "Liesel" as opposed to "Mommy" and will occasionally correct Eric should he refer to me as "Mom" since he calls me "Liesel".
I have enjoyed hearing her make these distinctions in her little voice. But, yesterday she made me laugh out loud when we were discussing nicknames for John. Eric has been pushing for "Jack" since before he was born. And let me say here, I'm not opposed to it, but the kids and I called him John from about Thanksgiving on, so, therefore, he is John. For now. But, this is how Molly sees it:
"Daddy calls him "Jack-Jack", Mommy calls him "Will", and I call him "John-John".
Frankly, she is quite accurate in this assessment of how we all refer to John.
