Last week in February with a lot of pictures

The above picture pretty much sums up what has been going on in the house...but, I'll go ahead a fill in the blanks.  (John loves Thomas and plays with the trains, reads the books, or watches the movies basically all of the time.  The boys are still reading Harry Potter voraciously, though Will is about to finish the 7th book as I type this...then he has said he will read them again, but in order he wants to since he already knows what happens....and the Mario pajamas are kind of obvious, huh...)
A couple of years ago, Eric and I decided he would cover history, religion, and science.  After a year of not covering history, religion, and science...I fired him.  However, this year, I re-delegated science to him.  Our science curriculum has some pretty in depth labs that require the boys to make observations and write about their observations.  I had very little patience for their complaining about me forcing them to A. Think, and then B. Write about their thoughts.  Eric has a bit more patience since he does these on the weekends and hasn't already battled them to A. Think or B. Write about their thoughts in a few other subjects.  As a result, they have a much more enjoyable time and spend quite a bit more time investigating various scientific mysteries.  Like the fact you can power a small LED bulb with Lemon Juice!! Incroyable!
Part of my lack of patience also stems from the energy it takes to make sure a certain 1-year-old confines his artistic talent to sheets of paper.  But, this boy's artistic vision is bigger than any sheet of paper.  He is convinced he can inspire the whole household if I would just let him draw on every possible surface...One (my husband) might argue that I just keep the markers away from him.  I 100% agree...now I just need to get the 5, 7, and 9-year-old on board.  The 7 and 9 year-old do appreciate it...but, I'm pretty sure I hear the 5-year-old whisper : Be FREE!!! every time she gets markers out of their hidden place.  I've started investing a bit more in the ultra wash variety.
Speaking of the 5-year-old...she is still rocking the pink.  And the patch.  She is also getting pretty good at reading mono-syllabic words.  Piggie and Gerald are her favorite books.  If you haven't discovered these, yet, I highly recommend them.  They are hilarious!

Some more pictures of the two youngest.
Dad's not the only one who can rock the hat.
Okay, so this section just turned into a little fashion show for Molly.  But, she does have some cute outfits.
Our house was visited by a friend a couple of weeks ago.  This is the second time..maybe third that we have found a lizard in our house since moving to Florida.  They are everywhere outside, and the kids do tend to leave doors open...so...

The boys really love the experiment part of science.  As this experiment started a bit late in the day and dinner did need to be provided...apparently...I told Eric he should just let the boys narrate their observations.  That helped keep the smiles on their faces.

On President's Day, Eric and I decided we should really get out of the house and do something.  So we headed to Pensacola to visit the National Naval Aviation Museum.  It is really an amazing museum with loads of interesting exhibits.  Our children wanted to play in the kids area.  Luckily, sprinkled throughout the museum were plenty of jets the kids could get in.  Sort of like mini-kids areas.

Leaving the house with 4 kids is really hard.  FYI.  So, when my birthday came around the next weekend all I wanted to do was hang out at the house.  Which we do nearly every weekend.
But, this weekend, I had my new No-Gravity Chair.  I also had a selection of root beers.  It was pretty close to a perfect day.  Oh!  I also got a smartphone.  Which I'm still not really sure about.  But, it is nice to have easy access to pictures and being able to text with my sisters and Eric.  I don't have to wait so long to share my witty observations with them.  I'm sure they are delighted.
Also on Saturday, Dom played his final basketball game of the season.  John is a pro at watching now.  At least for the first half.  He just marched up the steps, went down the row and sat with his legs crossed waiting for the game to start.  The second half he spends in the hallway crawling up and down the stairs and playing in the water fountain.
So he missed his brother pull his team into the lead during his final period of play.  Dom was so exciting to watch.  He stole the ball, he made passes, he made shots, he got fouled and made shots.  He had a couple of turnovers...but, so does Frank Mason III...What was really neat was that though no positions are assigned prior to the game, at half-time the coaches told the other players to let Dom bring the ball down the court.  He'd earned the point guard position for the second half based on his ball handling in the first.  And he rose to the challenge.  Way to go, Dom!

And John is practicing basketball on anything that remotely resembles it.

(Wow, so I just started re-reading this and realized all of my typos.  Hopefully I corrected the majority of them.  I probably should read through these before posting them, but I may have been a little distracted.  Maybe)

Typos, smypos. Let the kids edit your blog. Bet they would love to point out Mom's spelling errors. Loved the night cap that Molly is sporting.

I have typos all the time! I leave words out or type entirely different words than what I was intending. I never edit before I post. But I come back a day later and read it, and then think 'geez, that doesn't even make any sense!" So then I end up editing it because it drives me crazy. I know my grammar probably isn't accurate, but I'll at least fix the missing words and stuff. - Megan

So many things I love about this post. 1) you spoke French; 2) you had a birthday; 3) you had an assortment of root beers for your birthday; 4) you are able to more easily share your witty observations with your smartphone. Basically, I like everything about this post, I guess.
