Some time in the last two years, Molly and I started a little tradition that only the two of us are a part of. Molly comes up to me, cups her hands over my ear, and quietly whispers: "I love you!". I whisper back: "I love you more!". She gives a little giggle and whispers: "No, I love YOU more!"
Sometimes we get caught and people want to know the secret. I tell her she should let them in on it. She walks over, or sometimes skips, and cups their ear and whispers: "I love you!". I love to see the semi-annoyed perhaps offended face melt into a smile. She is nearly always rewarded with a hug and a sweet whisper in her own ear.
Somehow Molly knows just when I could use those three words in my ear. Today she whispered them in my ear at Mass and I melted into tears. I'd been thinking about family far away that I wish I could be nearer.
We also use this system after we have both gotten mad at each other. I whisper: "I'm sorry, will you forgive me?" and she whispers back, "Yes, and I'm sorry I made you mad! I promise I will never do it again!" We have this conversation on just about a daily basis. We also discuss the meaning of "I promise!" It's a work in progress.
I love those whispers. I hope they never stop. Those, along with Dom's hugs he freely offers, John's kisses, and Will's eagerness to share his stories and thoughts on topics are all the Valentines I need this year. Happy Valentine's Day.

So sweet and very special. Can't wait for Ella and I to have our own thing one day.
Please whisper to Molly that I received her Valentine today. Tell her I love her.
