What a crazy weekend, and the BVM

Liesel's best friend from Kansas, Ann Foltz, was visiting us this weekend. All the good pictures are on her camera, so we'll have to wait until she posts them on her website to view them. In the meantime, I think Dominic here captures the mood of all Nebraska fans after this weekend - we were rooting for them of course. Go Big XII North!!

New captions on the photo album have been posted. This Friday, December 8th, is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. We celebrate the preservation of Our Lady from original sin in the womb of her mother, St. Anne. This is a holy day of obligation for Catholics - and how blessed we are to be able to thank God for such a wonderful mother!! Also on this day, the Apostles of the Interior Life will renew their vows. Two sisters, Elena and Celestina, made appearances in our Thanksgiving album. We, and all the Friends of the Apostles, will be praying for grace for them, their community, and their apostolate of spiritual direction, especially of young people. Liesel and I are the recipients of their ministry - Deo gratias!

THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL

The Medal of the Immaculate Conception, or the Miraculous Medal, was given to St. Catherine Labore in 1831. It says: "O Mary concieved without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee." There are many saints who have a great devotion to Our Lady, including Joseph, Dominic, Louis de Montfort, Francis, Gianna, Pier Giorgio Frassati, and Pope John Paul the Great - oremus!!
