Eric told me to write something for the blog as he had math homework to do, so here I am writing something for the blog. We've had a pretty eventful couple of months. This should be obvious from the lack of posts. But, there are those out there that may doubt we do much else than sit on our comfy couches and watch football on our tiny television. So allow me to tell you of the adventures of the Buschelman Family since moving into our new home in chronological order:
1. Over Labor Day we went back to Kansas for my aunt Vicki's wedding.
Highlights: Seeing everyone from my side of the family and seeing Grandma and Grandpa Buschelman and Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Buschelman and Aunt Debbie. Eating donuts a couple of times. Vicki's wedding and reception (though most of the wedding I was in the cry room with Will). Nephew Peter's Baptism. Winning cornhole and ladder ball. Oh, and we got to see some of our friends from college and their kids.
Lowlights: Dominic pushing our friends' kids. Missing just about all of Saturday evening Mass because Will thought it would be more fun to scream than to prayer quietly. A failed attempt to get my family to enjoy a game of Monopoly. Apparently, my sister-in-law and I are the only fans of the most awesome board game ever. Mitzi and my parents' cars being the victims of a hit and run.
Highlight: The police find the guy who hit the cars and he has insurance. Woohoo!
2. A couple weeks after we got home Eric ran in the half-marathon and pr'd and I "ran" the 5K. I also pr'd mainly because I don't remember any of my times from 5 years ago, which was the last time I ran in a 5K.
Highlights of that weekend: Seeing our good friends Ernest and Sarah who came from California for the half-marathon and were the first official guests of the Buschelmaennerhaus, training runs as a family (see previous post of how the boys train)*, Zinzinatti Oktoberfest, watching the Emmys with Neil Patrick Harris. I've never watched this particular awards show before, but I was pretty entertained. Oh, and discovering that Dom really likes Korean food.
*Dom is actually the little runner. He loved getting out of the jogging stroller and running along the path and on one of our last runs, he walked/jogged the mile back to our house.
Lowlights: Rainy Day for the Oktoberfest, and our good friends, the Carrs, moved to France. Owen is the little boy in several of the pictures with Dominic. Luckily, for us, their plans were changed and they left a week later than expected, so we got to spend a little more time with them and the boys got to play daily. Also, Dom now knows where France is on a map.
3. A couple of weeks after this we started hosting a few family members over the course of 10 days. The visits were back-to-back and sometimes overlapping, but it was great and the boys loved having a little extra attention shown their way.
Highlights: Mitzi comes! She brings donuts! Dining Room painted! Cool prints found for the fireplace room!
Lowlight: Mitzi leaves. . .
Highlights: Grandpa Buschelman comes! On TDY! Boys have a new wrestling buddy!
Highlights: Katie and the cousins come! Craziness ensues! Grandpa and Eric do home repairs and put in dead bolts. Take that would be burglars!
Lowlight: Grandpa Buschelman leaves in the wee hours of the morning before sleep deprived Dominic is awake enough to give him the good bye he would normally have done. Will sleeps through the departure. Then Grandpa gets stuck at the airport for hours. We all know where he would have rather spent that time. Another black mark against the airline industry. And fog.
It also rains for two days while Katie is here. Rain and children under the age of 5 do not mix, but luckily we live in a larger house and there is more room to expend energy.
Highlights: The sun comes out! The park is awesome! Putting on shows for strangers at the amphitheater is even better! Singing the KU alma mater, fight song and Rock Chalk chant is the absolute best! Go to Young's Dairy and have free ice cream while shivering! I also get to watch all 5 kids by myself, which was a treat and a half! I think it was for maybe 10 minutes, but it felt much longer. Luckily, most of them swarmed around the tractor. And who wouldn't?
Dominic turns 3 and gets to play most of the day with his cousins and all of his new presents. Biggest hits so far? Train puzzle and Curious George Hide-and-Seek game. Fighter Jets, Cars, and Soccer Goals are next. Distant last place? New underwear. . .(who invited that kid?)
Lowlight: Katie and the kids leave and Robert didn't even get to come. We're already looking forward to the next time they come to visit.
Well, that about sums it up. Things that occurred that I didn't know where to put: Will is a walking fool. Literally. He loves walking and just has a goofy grin on his face when he comes around the corner and sees you. Dom got an awesome trike by Trek for an early birthday present that he loves as well as his helmet that we think he wears to be like Dad.
We have many upcoming events including our Oktoberfest, another 5K, a wedding, and hopefully a trip to Louisville to see Nana. Thanksgiving and Christmas, too. Until then!

Thomas really likes Monopoly a lot, and after we play then we sit around and discuss what happened and analyze strategy. So if we're ever hanging out, Monopoly it is.
My goal is always to get the railroads. Liesel gets railroads = Liesel wins!
You were alternating lowlights and highlights, so since I was saving time by not reading the heading, I thought Katie and the kids coming was a lowlight...
Yeah, sorry about the long post. If I just posted more often, you wouldn't have had to save time, but rather cherish every word.
Railroads are good if they fall in your lap, but I feel like the limited potential upside isn't worth trading away other properties for -- especially in the end game. In our family everyone usually fights over reds and oranges.
