Pi Day Countdown

I just wanted to post my Pi Day celebration tips in a format that will be easy to find next year. For those of you interested, I actually only did 9, 8, 6, and 1. I wanted to have a goal for next year :).

#10 thing to do to celebrate PI day: measure the circumference of several circles and divide that number with the measurement of their diameters. Get a little thrill everytime you get the same number!

#9 thing to do to celebrate PI Day: (Let's just get this out of the way) make and/or eat pie. Cherry pie, berry pie, pumpkin pie, peach, French silk, apple, or a little of each. (taken from one of Dom's favorite books)

#8 Thing to do to celebrate PI Day: As it is Sunday, meditate on this early estimate of PI given in the bible: 1 Kings 7:23-26. As this verse actually has been met by quite a bit of controversy, I found this article interesting if you feel like reading it: home.teleport.com/~salad/4god/pi.htm

#7 Thing to do to celebrate PI day: Change you birthday in Facebook to March 14. I really wanted to change the year to 1593, but apparently the Facebook people think that a person born in that year could not possibly be using such modern technology. Therefore, the next best year to use would, of course, be 2000.

#6 Thing to do to celebrate PI Day: Be irrational.

#5 Thing to do to celebrate PI Day: 2 parts:
First: see how many digits you can memorize in this irrational number. Second: look up what it means to be an irrational number.

#4 Thing to do to celebrate PI Day: Run PI miles. The most exact way to do this is to create a circle track with a 1 mile diameter. Or just do an approximate Pi miles by running a 5K and adding about 64 more steps at the end. If you are 5'4".

#3 Thing to do to celebrate Pi Day: make a collage of circles or find several circular objects (cylinders to be exact, circles are 2-dimensional and would be difficult to use) and use them as stamps. The image would be circles and would look totally awesome. At least they do in my imagination.

#2 Thing to do to celebrate Pi Day: Write a "Piem". Each word has to be the same number of letters as the corresponding digit in the number Pi. Google some examples if you really want to be impressed. And have nothing better to do.

#1 Thing to do to celebrate Pi Day: Come to the Pi Party at the Buschelmaennerhaus!! Or at the very least add a couple of numbers together. Happy Pi Day Everyone!!!!
