St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day dawned bright and early at the Buschelman house.  Due to an ill-timed KU game the evening before, we elected to go to the 7:30 AM Mass.  However, this meant we all got decked out in our greenery first thing in the morning.
After the boys got home from Sunday School, we had our customary Sunday brunch that consists mainly of bacon.  Unhealthy?  Yes.  Delicious?  Absolutely.  If Will could change the Genesis, his version would go something like this:  "And on the seventh day the Lord rested....and ate Bacon!"  And a nice addition to the bacon prep this particular morning was that Eric had put on some traditional Irish music.  Molly loves to dance, and any excuse for a kitchen dance party is generally welcomed.  We hopped and skipped around our kitchen island while the bacon crisped on the stove top.
Eric also printed off some pictures to get the boys in the spirit of the day (as if the decorations that have been hanging in our living room for two weeks weren't enough!), and they sat and diligently colored for a long time.  Will even postponed his bacon consumption to finish his picture.  Another miracle to be attributed to St. Patrick!
Eric made our breakfast a little more Irish by adding a fried egg, tomatoes, and a Snakebite.  (Guinness and Cider...I think...it looked neat anyhow)
As it was overcast, we spent the afternoon doing some lazy activities around the house.  I finished a book and the kids watched Eric play McMario O'Galaxy.  Then we sat down for a traditional Irish snack of guacamole and chips with a lime sherbet and Sprite float.  I defy anyone to find a more appropriate green snack on this particular holiday.
Some good friends came over to spend the evening with us which we celebrated with corned beef hash and fried eggs and traditional Irish Soda Bread.
After everyone left and kids went to bed, Eric and I settled in for the traditional viewing of Darby O'Gill and the Little People.  Phew, after this week of parties, I need a vacaction!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
