Game Night!

If you don't already know this about me, know it now that I love game night.  I love it so much that I don't even mind if I lose some of the games.  I just like the friendly competition and polite trash talking that goes along with it.
If you don't already know this about me, know that I really have a hard time making myself leave my house especially after the sun goes down.  And especially if the alternative is putting on some comfy sweatpants and lounging around.  This is why I would often try and get people to come to my house for game nights rather than actually having to go somewhere else.  Even the prospect of cleaning my house seemed like a better alternative to having to leave it.
So, now that you know those two things about me, you can easily imagine how excited I am that we now have children old enough to play games.  IN THE COMFORT OF MY OWN HOME!!!  And since all three of them are use to seeing me in my comfy clothes, I don't even have to change for the event.  It is AWESOME!
On Friday we had our first official game night.  We've played games before, but this was the first time that we picked out a selection and endeavored to play them.  Dom and Will picked out Toy Story 3 Yahtzee, Wobbly Hamburger (probably not the official name, but must be something similar), and Spot It!.  The added bonus to these three games is that Molly could honestly take part in all of them.

Wobbly Hamburger is a game where you take turns stacking various parts of a hamburger and see who will make the burger fall over first.  Molly did very well, especially after we imposed a 'no hands touching the coffee table' rule.  Hence the pictures of the kids and Eric looking like they were being held up.
And we helped Molly play Spot It by giving her one picture to look for.  I helped her a bit, but by the end she was seeing her chosen picture (the knight from chess, though she just yelled: "Horse!") quite quickly.  Even to the point that she quickly saw when the knight wasn't present and she just politely said: "Nope".  Yes, this meant she never had the most cards, but she definitely participated and was focused on the game.

It was a really fun evening, and I hope that we can make it a weekly event.  Now, I just need their attention spans to be long enough for Monopoly!
