Easter Sunday

Jesus Christ is Risen! Alleluia!  Easter Sunday dawned gray and rainy.  Someone should have told Mother Nature that she needed to have weather a little more fitting for the occasion, but...maybe she is a Kansas fan and just couldn't quite be sunny after our Holy Saturday loss.

Yet, even the loss the night before and the torrential downpour that greeted us along with our early alarm clock could not damper our high spirits as we look forward to the promise of eternal salvation and Easter candy. 

 John was not being super duper accommodating when it came to pics of the kids (1-year-olds!), but our elder three cleaned up quite nicely.  Notice how Dom's shirt pairs nicely with Molly's dress?  Totally accidental!  I'm just that good...

 A friendly parishoner offered to take a picture of the family.  She may or may not have known what she was getting into, but the shot didn't turn out too badly.  Way to go Buschelmans!  (Plug for my new favorite online store, Thred Up!, Will, John, Molly, and I all are wearing purchases from this consignment store...kind of like the Dollar Tree, but clothes and they cost more than a dollar, but prices are not bad)

Molly and I needed to have a picture of just the girls.  John is just off to the right.  He loves me, what can I say?

 On Easter, Uncle Brian boarded a plan to Japan for his next assignment.  Great opportunity for us to practice our family selfie skills.  John is missing due to the fact he was scouting out the candy situation in the other room, and three out of four kids in a pic is good enough! 

 Will helped John understand there is chocolate below that wrapping paper.  Believe it or not, Molly is the only one that has finished her bunny.  The others still sit partially wrapped in plain sight.

I went all out in the decorating department.  In the dining room.  It looked beautiful.  The rest of the house? Not so much, but you aren't seeing pictures of the rest of the house.  Are you.

Due to the inclement weather, we had to postpone the Easter Egg hunt until the afternoon.  Instead, we ate a large brunch, watched The 10 Commandments, and then played a nice peaceful game of World Domination:

As the boys, Eric, and I played Risk, it quickly became apparent to me that Eric would soon be unstoppable in his quest to take over the world due to my really bad rolling the boys constantly attacking one another.  I quickly got the boys on my side with an alliance.  This picture was taken shortly prior to this alliance being formed:

Let's just say, Eric wasn't smiling a few minutes later as he sustained multiple attacks on multiple fronts.  The game was finally called when my own victory became inevitable due to Dom breaking the alliance to attack Will and Will's suicide mission to avenge his honor.  The timing was pretty perfect because John was waking up from his nap and the sun was breaking through the clouds.  Time for the Easter Egg Hunt!

 Dom elected to not participate (he was a little upset over the turn of events in Risk), but he was happy to help hide the eggs and assist John in his search...he needed a lot of help.

 I do love watching Molly run all over...including right past eggs as she chases down Will's hot trail.

 These aren't super great pictures.  But, you get the idea.  Lots of running, squeals of laughter, and counting.  The hunt probably lasted about 10 minutes.  And the eggs were equitably divided.  Well done, kids!

After the hunt, we determined that no one was hungry due to an enormous amount of candy being consumed.  We needed to run off that energy somehow, so we went for a family walk that passed by a neighborhood church parking lot.  With lots of puddles:

 The kids had a great time riding through the puddles, running through the puddles, and at one point...sitting in the puddles.  I totally should have, but I did not see that coming!

 (By the way, this is my favorite outfit for John.  In fact, he is currently wearing it.  It's been washed.)

We all had a great time and headed home to showers, baths, more candy, ham, and the end of The Ten Commandments...but, I repeat myself. (Seriously, Eric nailed it on the head when he said it was almost like the direction for Charlton Heston was to say every line as though it was the most important line ever said.)
