Distractions

I'm not sure if anyone is aware that Mario Kart (N64 style) has become a part of our bedtime routine. The boys hold controllers while Eric and I battle it out on the easiest course (my call) with our favorite characters (Dom's call, though really Dom only has an opinion on who Eric is as that is "Dom's character"). Eric and I are generally pretty evenly matched. However, tonight I had a distraction that caused me to come in third. My downfall really started this morning before 8 in the morning:

I was making chili and cutting jalapenos. I thought I washed my hands well enough, but my contacts burned as they touched my eyeballs, and I elected the safest decision would be to go with glasses.

Fast forward to this evening as we are racing. I noticed Dom was looking at me very intently. I had expected this when he first saw me with glasses, but it was as though he was seeing them for the first time. Frankly, he was sort of freaking me out. But, then he started saying: "I can see the race cars". He was seeing the reflection of the tv in my lenses and was totally enthralled. He spent the remainder of the race just looking in awe at my lenses. He eventually got right in front of me to get a closer look. When I said I couldn't see my car he pointed at my glasses and said: "It's right there!".

I was laughing so hard I didn't mind that I lost. Plus, there is always tomorrow night!

Wow...so Dominic chose to watch your glasses instead of your new television. Interesting.

Racing comes first. Just push that kid out of the way =) Too bad you don't have a Wii, then we could play online against each other every night!!! We could get speaker phones set up and trash talk. It would be AWESOME!!
