While catching up on some blogs I noticed that both of them posted DIY projects. I figured I would continue the theme with our very own couple DIY. A few years ago a friend posted about making a chalkboard for her kitchen. I thought this was a clever idea and soon after went to the thrift store and found a couple of picture frames to use. Around this same time, we were buying paint for our living room and I went ahead a picked up a can of chalkboard paint. I was on top of this simple project, as you can see.
The picture frames sat in our garage for several months. One eventually broke. The other, I lost track of. I realized about a year ago that I didn't know where the can of chalkboard paint was. Too embarrassed to admit my ignorance, I did not ask my all-knowing husband. I figured the project was a lost cause and was ashamed that I had basically wasted about $25 between the frames and the paint.
Well, this past Monday as I was getting ready to leave, I find Eric painting something black. I didn't at first recognize what he was doing and then I saw the can of chalkboard paint. When I asked him what he was doing, he just shrugged and said he figured the things had been sitting in our garage long enough, we might as well try it. So without further ado, here is our $25 DIY project that took 3 years (and about 5 minutes of actual work)...
William loved it and immediately started drawing planets on it. Those are his letters except for J. Eric did that.

Very Nice! Now if you wanted to take it a step further, you could buy a 4-6 piece of plywood or something, paint that, and then attach it to a wall or fence outside. Saw it on Pinterest!-Megan
Way to go! I've seen those and thought they were interesting. I think I'd have the same problem as you... buy all the supplies with great intentions and then wait a long time to get around to it. In fact, I have a project sitting in the garage doing just that.
