Happy Easter Monday!
We had a really wonderful Easter weekend. Highlights were attending services at St. Helen's, Mitzi coming to visit, several egg hunt rehearsals (Dom was a very sneaky Easter Bunny), family soccer games, and eating our weight in chocolate. Ok, maybe just Molly ate her actual weight, but you get my point. The following are some of the pictures we took:
Earlier on Thursday morning, the kids took part in the AFIT Easter Egg Hunt. Which is less a hunt and more a free for all. Being as the average age of the kids was roughly 2, Dom and Will really cleaned up. We must have come home with 50 plastic eggs all filled with non-chocolate candy. Waste of space, if you ask me, but Will seems to like them, so we'll save a few for him. However, this event made Dom all the more excited for our actual egg hunt. (Note: Dom and Will kept telling me on Thursday that it wasn't the real Easter Egg Hunt seeing as it wasn't Easter, yet. I was very proud) Thus, Thursday afternoon we spent a solid 90 minutes taking turns being the bunny and finding the eggs. Dom was hilarious as he would tell us how sneaky he was and then point out all of his best hiding spots. He requested a pair of bunny ears like a friend of theirs had worn that morning. I improvised with pipe cleaners and headbands.
Easter morning, Dom got dressed and then went downstairs to do a recon mission on the egg situation. He discovered Winnie-the-Pooh wearing a Captain America mask (he looked awesome) and Mickey Mouse wearing an Iron Man mask (not as awesome, but still pretty cool). Molly was less thrilled than her brothers, but they tried to convince her not to be scared. A side story, this morning the boys put on the masks and started to fight until Dom stopped and said: "Wait, why are we fighting each other? We are both Super Heroes" An excellent point.
Molly was a hit at Mass (per usual). Fr. Dave complimented all the little girls who dressed up for the big day. I thought the boys were pretty handsome as well.
We didn't decorate as much for Easter as in years past, but it all still looked lovely. Mitzi gave us a great game that I will be practicing for many months. Eric is already really good, but I think it is only a matter of time before I can beat him soundly.
Molly took part in the egg hunt, but was at a great disadvantage to the veteran egg hunters. However, they assisted her for a few.
Along with the masks, Dom and Will received some lesser known cars from Cars 2 and characters from Mario Kart Wii. The boys proceeded to play with these gifts for the remainder of the day and then continued this morning a little after 7. Pretty successful gift giving if you ask me :). It is quite entertaining to listen in on them recreating scenes from the movie, particularly when Will provides the background music at the top of his lungs.
Memorable events from our times at church:
Molly continuously walking to the Baptismal Font and dipping her fingers in. This was cute the first couple of times, but it quickly became more of a problem and resulted in me and her spending a lot of quality time in the back of church. It got so bad at one point that I put her in the car to drive around the block, hoping she would fall asleep. She did not.
The boys and I washing each others feet. Not exactly liturgically correct, but a wonderful experience. Something I should replicate in our home.
Dominic asking a lot of profound questions and being more interested than ever before in the happenings of the liturgy.
William spinning around and around and explaining to his father when a cease and desist order was given that he was "Jupiter and rotating really really fast". Speaking of which here is your trivia for the day:
Jupiter is so large that if it were hollow you could fit 1,000 Earths in it, yet it only takes 10 hours to rotate once around its axis. That is really, really fast. Is it blowing your mind?

The boys do look quite handsome, but that girl...the cute is overwhelming!
The hat and dress combo are quite fetching :)
Happy Easter!!
Mind= Blown.
In regards to William rotating like Jupiter. How can you possibly be mad or tell a kid to stop doing something when he's simply just applying something he's learned. Genius kid. And I love the white hat, I had one when I was little! -Megan
Quite an Easter -- big white hat and tights; dressed up handsome boys, and eggs hanging from the chandelier! It all brings back lots of memories. Thanks for sharing.
