Eric, are you sure this is a good idea? (Part 2)

Okay, back to June.  Its now Tuesday, and I have 2 days to get as much done on this bathroom before I have to drive back to Kansas on Friday to go to Tray & Julie's wedding.  Gotta get back to work!

Remember the rotten floor?  Well, the subfloor was rotten too.  After we got the right thickness of wood (finally), we complete the subfloor.

(Yes, Jason was working while I did the photodocumentary. Sue me.)

We opted to go the Hardiebacker 1/4" board on the floor.  Stuff is good, but an absolute *bear* to cut through. More on that later.

Also decided to cut out this whole section of the drywall, since the original wall had shown signs of moisture damage all the way out the left side of the picture.  We'll put in 1/2" Durock board here, and in the walls around the tub.

But first we had to let the kids get involved somehow.  Who knows when the next time someone will see this beautiful tapestry will be?

Hey, presto!

So fast forward to about 10 days ago (has it been that long?) and as you can see, we've tiled the floor, and put the cement board up all around the shower.  This stuff has to set up for 24-72 hours (yes, I used the pre-mixed Mastic stuff - sue me), and then we'll be ready to attack the shower and wall tiles.

(Hold on for those kids pictures!)

Wait - so the kids painted the back of the drywall? Awesome! #history #rockchalk
