John Goes to Lawrence!

The kids and I drove up to Lawrence in time for Memorial Day weekend.  And John continued his introduction to various members of his extended family.  (I don't have pictures...typical...but, he had met two great-great-aunts, a great-great-uncle, and his grandpa (who very kindly flew in to San Antonio to drive us to Oklahoma) prior to his arrival in Lawrence).  John first met Nana and L'Opa, and I am very sad to say that I don't think I have a picture of the two of them with him.  He also met Tux, their Boston Terrier.  However, Molly kept Tux occupied for the duration of our stay.
On Saturday evening, John met his aunts, Katie and Mitzi (finally), his uncle Robert, and his cousins: Mary Ann, Rose, Peter, and Margaret who promptly expressed great joy at meeting their newest cousin and then commenced playing with the mobile ones.
John even got to sit at the kid table (Mitzi actually ate at the grown-up table).

The main purpose of the weekend was to attend Msgr. Vince Krische's 50 Anniversary celebration (again, no pictures).   My parents have known him since moving to Lawrence in the 70s, so his party was a mini-reunion for us as well as we saw people we knew from our childhood all the way up through college.  But, I'll talk more about him in the next post.
In other news, after weeks of dealing with Molly's irrational fear of a hairbrush, I elected to have her hair cut to a more manageable length.  I love it and she likes it, too.  Though at one point she did accuse me of "breaking her hair".  She has no idea.  I may have it go shorter next time.
And our little 7-weeker is taking all of the traveling and meeting of new people like a champ.  He will occasionally remind me in the evening that he is an infant by not calming down unless I go to bed with him, but for the most part he just hangs out and watches the proceedings until he drifts to sleep from the soothing lullabies of children running, screaming, laughing, and/or singing...loudly.
