Legoland Re-visited

 With our move pending, we knew we had only one last chance to hit Legoland when it is most convenient for our family.  And when our kids are still young enough to enjoy themselves. We read recently that Legoland is aimed at the 5-12 crowd, and that is pretty accurate.  That said, I love the low stress of Legoland.  We rented a VRBO this time around, and that just added to the vacation feeling despite only being there two nights.

 We also did not want to miss out on the newest exhibit which is Ninjago themed.  Our kids were 100% into Ninjago a few years ago.  They have moved on to other interests now, but were still keen to see the newest attraction. 

 The attraction had some training modules and also an interactive ride that I totally rocked.  It was motion sensing technology, and I believe there were training videos along the way.  But, since we were able to walk on, we missed all of those.  Turns out if you just wave your hands wildly over the sensor, you get an incredibly high score.  #protip

 Legoland is very lowkey, and even with several school trips in attendance, most rides had no wait.  Which makes it a pretty great place to take John who had a hard time understanding why he couldn't ride a few rides (read: Threw huge tantrums as he watched his siblings ride away).  But, he only had to deal with the disappointment for a few minutes until we were on to a ride he could participate in.  Granted, to him "a few minutes" feels like "forever".  As it does for which ever parent lost the Rock/Paper/Scissor challenge to sit out with him.

 Turns out, Orlando is way warmer in May then in December.  Who knew? (Answer: Everybody, Everybody knows that).  Therefore, a water ride we rode in December that we thought was totally lame, became our absolutely favorite ride.  And I didn't even ride it.  Instead, John, Molly, and I stood and sprayed water guns at the sitting ducks riding it.  Granted, they had water guns as well, and even complete strangers lost all qualms at squirting one another.  Dom, Will, and, Eric were soaked, but smiling and laughing.  The picture at the top of this post was taken right after the first ride when Dom and Eric are discussing their experiences.  Huge smiles all around.

 Molly, after a brief time manning the water cannon, entertained herself at one of the many lego stations.  We were all dragging a little up to that ride due to the heat and John showing his threenager self.  But, we were all rejuvenated and ready to close down the park.

 Molly, John, and I hit Duplo Farm while the others hit a couple more roller coasters.  It is great having older kids to shepherd John around.  I could just hang out and watch as the other parents rode the little trains and tractors.

John got to drive a car.  Sort of.  Turns out he isn't very good.  He was lapped several times.  Ah well, he will get them next time!
