This story has a pretty local flavor. Sr Dorothy Stang is actually from Dayton, and was a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur - the order of nuns based at our church, St. Helen. Many of the sisters knew her. In 2005 she was shot and killed by two Brazilian men who opposed her efforts to protect the rainforests from ranching and logging industry. The man who was found guilty today was convicted of hiring the two men to eliminate her.
Who says there aren't still martyrs?
