Adventures with Dom or What Dom Can Eat

Dominic has had a pretty full couple of weeks since we got back from Dayton. I have, too, for that matter. We stopped in California, Missouri to help Nana pack up some of her childhood belongings. Well, truth be told, Dom helped unpack more than he packed.

Our 4th of July was fairly quiet in light of the city-wide ban on fireworks, but, Dom did enjoy his first taste of watermelon, donut, and peach. Ok, so he sort of gagged on the peach, but he did like the watermelon as you can see from the above picture.

The real excitement came when we went over to Great Aunt Vicki's house (that's Micky Mouse, in case Mary Ann is confused) (and for the rest of you who might be confused from the previous parenthetical statement say "vicki's house, but think like a 2-year old. . .what does it sound like? That's right, everyone's favorite mouse. . .except for Mighty Mouse, perhaps, but that's for a later blog).

There, Dominic got to converse with his namesake, Grandpa Mac (Francis Joseph), who helped translate Dom's dialect; thoughtfully leaving out all of the profanity.

Then, as if being in Micky Mouse's house and seeing Great-Grandpa Mac wasn't great enough, he got to play with toys that light up and make noise. These are two phenomenons that he really hasn't been around since watching a train go around and around the track at his Uncle Fritz's. While he was distracted by all of this excitement, I got a little time to totally dominate in a game of Scrabble. . . so, yeah, I had a pretty good time, too!

Then it was back to California to "help" move all of Grandpa Mac's furniture. Though, there are too many witnesses who saw that Dom and I did very little, as Dom decided he did not want to be left anywhere alone or on the ground. Turns out, there is very little one can do with one hand. Who knew?

But, now we are back in Lawrence, gearing up for one last week without Dad around to change diapers, make funny faces, and update the blog. Luckily, we have le Tour to distract us for a bit. Enjoy the new pictures!

Glad you explained Micky Mouse--I didn't quite get how just Vicki became Micky Mouse since I never heard about the house part. It sounds from your post that Lawrence is now your home--you keep saying you're "back" like Lawrence is your final destination.

Mary ann is now playing Monkey game by herself (Donkey Kong). She likes the ability to move and jump. I think she'll be a great gamer when she can start using more than one button at a time.

He looks so cute! We can't wait to see him and play when we get back.
