For a little over a year, our weekends have been packed with getting ready to move and other activities and stresses. Thus, when we found ourselves with a completely open weekend a few weeks ago, we were at a loss as to how to spend it. We ended up watching a lot of tv and basically wasting time. This was not a trend we wanted to continue. Especially with three small kids that need to get out and do things. Of course, when the next weekend came up, we ended up doing the exact same thing. However, by the third open weekend, I finally pulled myself together enough to plan an outing.
That outing was to Pensacola to visit the National Naval Aviation Museum. Don't be too impressed, originally we were going to spend the weekend in Atlanta, then when illness sidelined us for that, we thought we'd take at least two day trips to nearby sites. The second one being Mobile, Alabama. However, sickness again hit the family, so Pensacola was our sole outing.
But, we really enjoyed it. Along with the multitudes of planes, they also had great exhibits to peruse and a children's play area. Unfortunately, we had to cut out visit a little short as I got sick during a neat tour on the history of flight.
But, not before all of the kids got to sit in the cockpit of a plane flown by The Blue Angels. And not before we knew that we'd need to go back and visit everything we didn't get a chance to see.
